Major league’s 2014 All Star game is two weeks away and each team is now checking on the over-all condition of its pitching staff. Teams have already played more than half of the grueling 162-game season, and while hitting sometimes determines the ultimate World Series champion, healthy, efficient pitching can, and often does, shut down hot-swinging bats. An old sports cliché, “good pitching will beat good hitting”, is correct more times than not. This year should prove no different. Continue reading
