What a difference a day makes! Quadruple that, and national football fans were able to see the fate of a professional franchise change before their very eyes. Saints Give Fans Reasons To Look Ahead

By John Ventola

Folks in south Louisiana are walking more briskly and smiling more freely today. Last night’s overtime victory by the New Orleans Saints over Dallas has given them hope that their team can use the win to propel them to a much needed winning streak. With Carolina and Atlanta both off to 4-0 starts, the victory was needed to keep the National Conference’s South Division from becoming a runaway two-team  race. Continue reading

Athletes are always looking for an edge when facing the opposition. Talent, and performance efficiency, should be what declares one team a winner, and the other a loser. If only it was that simple. Coaching, scouting, and a player’s drive to improve individual performance, all contribute to scenarios that border on dishonesty, or cheating. Boo-Hoo Works Overtime On The Bayou

By John Ventola

A month ago Louisiana football fans found themselves in the doldrums after the New Orleans Saints got off to a miserable 2 and 4 start and LSU lost its first two Southeastern Conference (SEC) games. Both teams rebounded over the next month to return to respectability, if not championship form. The Saints topped Green Bay and Carolina to claim top position in the weak NFC South Division while the Tigers won three consecutive SEC games over Florida, Kentucky, and Ole Miss. However, just when both squads had refilled their fan bases with feel good vibes, they let last minute leads disappear and lost gut wrenching overtime contests to the San Francisco 49ers and Alabama Crimson Tide on their home fields. And The Beat Down Goes On

By John Ventola

If Louisiana football fans thought that the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers offered them some sloppy play in September, their first games played in October give them very little hope for significant improvement anytime soon. To say both teams have their fanbases puzzled and frustrated at this point in the season is an understatement, even though the Saints did manage to best underdog Tampa Bay in overtime today at home. Louisiana Realizing This Could Be Long Football Season

By John Ventola

There is no amount of gumbo that can erase the bad taste from the mouths of south Louisiana football fans as they have agonizingly watched the New Orleans Saints put on four sub-par performances to open the season, and LSU fail miserably in its second real challenge of the year. It has been a tough September in the Bayou State, and the outlook for improvement of the two teams is hazy at best. Continue reading
